July 23, The New York Times reported the sales of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in the United States during the first 24 hours of the book’s release to be at 8.3 million copies. “Across the pond,” the BBC News reported 2.7 million copies sold in the same time period in the UK. J.K. Rowling is said to have signed 250 copies per hour between midnight and dawn at the Natural History Museum in London on that day!
